Dad's Retirement

Image
XTO/Exxon had retirement party for Dad on June 30th ~ which was Dad's final day as a working man. Flights were really pricey, so just the kids and I went. Greta's first time to fly, and my first solo fly with 3 kids. Luck was on our side, because the kids were great. A 1 hour flight and electronics for them to play made it easier than a 5 hour drive. They missed one day at Camp Thurman, but they agreed it was a good reason to miss.  Garrett Popcorn Company is a Chicago tradition. We'd always stop at Ohare airport, but now they have one at DFW.  Off we go!  Midland Airport has all the cool "oilfield stuff" according to the boys.  Dad had his choice of a party, and he chose a BBQ at the lease.   There were a lot of people there: vendors, people from the office in Midland, and co-workers from the Andrews and surrounding offices.  Amazing lunch with BBQ, steak, shrimp, and more fixins than I could eat.  The...

Swim lesson & the Hopper Visit

Image
Mindy enrolled Stella in swim lessons with Mr. Bryan, so we were excited to have them stay for (almost) 2 weeks. It was the same session the boys were scheduled for lessons, too. Lots of fun cousin time. All the kiddos were swimming with Mr. Bryan. The boys were swimming diagonally crossed his pool, going from front to back. Garrett was doing the back stroke, breast stroke and diving. Gus was doing breast stroke, flipping to his back and doing a little diving, too. It's always great to see Mr Bryan in action. Mindy worked on Mondays, so we had all 5 kiddos (plus Colin was there to watch Jackson).  Mindy and I had a night out.  Gus's last day of school, Stella hugged him. 7 months old! We had a great 2 weeks! We were sad to see them go home.
