Visitors for Gus & Garrett

Image
5 days old Dad reading books to Garrett and Atlee. Atlee brought my Dad a book and said "Hey Grandpa, will you read this to me?" Funny kid. Meanwhile, Tia Erin was busy working her photography magic. During dinner on Friday night, Garrett requested that Gus sit next to him. Gus meeting Julsey and Who Who. Gus' first Zane/JJ Jam Session... On Saturday, Mindy and Jarrett took Garrett to Lowes for the Build Workshop. He made me a lovely music box. The weather was in the 70s on Saturday and we spent as much time outdoors as possible. It was just what we needed after several days of ice and snow. Gus was soaking up the sun, too. He loved it. Marcus assisting Garrett in the sandbox We had lots more visitors on Sunday ~ The Anderson family stopped by and brought us a yummy dinner. Gus had a doc appointment on Thursday. When we left the hospital he was down to 8 lbs 1 oz from his birth weight of 8 lbs 9 oz, but on Thursday he was back up to 8 lbs 6 oz and 21.5" long (he was 20.5" at birth). His bilirubin was at 10 (8-12 is the range). The doctor was pleased and we were relieved. His head circumference was 36.6 cm. Thursday afternoon Gus and Nana napped together while I got a 2 hours nap ~ it was heavenly. When I woke up, Erin, Atlee, and Emery were there. Garrett was so happy to see Atlee. They played great together. r T-R-O-U-B-L-E We got the sweetest delivery ~ Thank you, Hanckowiak's ~ yall are too thoughtful. It went great with our roast beef dinner that my mom made:) My Dad arrived from Pennsylvania, where he had been visiting my Grandmother (he had to travel to the motherland to watch his Steelers in the Superbowl). We also had a birthday celebration for Emery ~ she turned 1 on Wednesday. Jarrett & Atlee ~ Emery is 1! These 2 wer...

1st night at home

Wednesday we woke up to more snow. I'm not sure if it is still called "waking up" when you never really got to go to sleep. Hence, the 3 photos I took all day on Wednesday, and I failed to get a picture of Gus with his first snow "storm". Luckily it melted quickly and the sun came out by 2 p.m. Mom was able to go to the pharmacy to get me stronger pain medicine.  Garrett kept "sharing" his toys with Gus. He would covertly sneak into the room to offer him some toys, and just leave them on his swing, in the cradle, etc. Gus finally went to sleep about  5 a.m. and slept until 8 a.m., once we decided to put him in the swing. He has been sleeping very well in it.   Garrett didn't sleep too well, either. He woke up several times and came into our room. He was in good spirits on Wednesday and ready to hold Gus.

Going Home

We were discharged on Tuesday afternoon, and eager to get home before more bad weather arrived. Nana bought Gus his going home outfit, and he wore a sweater and hat that was Zane's when he was a baby. Sporting the sweater and hat that was Zane's....but sick of putting on clothes. Thanks for the great blanket, Aunt Kay! We ended up with more stuff to lug home than most people have on a week long vacation. I'm not sure how that happened. Garrett was happy to see us. He had balloons for us and Nana had all sorts of good things cooking. Gus brought Garrett another gift... Boots! Getting ready for bed... Bed time stories with Gus
