Saturday in Port A

Image
The girls went shopping, and we brought Garrett with us. He napped while we had lunch. Mindy & Me Mom & Annette Little man woke up in time to load up on goodies, including this net. He preferred pink. With the aunties.... Daisy stayed home to rest.... After we got back, Zane & I took Garrett to the pool. He is such a daredevil now....much different than at swim lessons. 1,2.... 3! Then Marcus cooked a yummy Shrimp Boil for us. Marcus' parents came down from Amarillo to stay a few days, and Marcus' aunt, uncle, and cousins came over from Corpus Christi to have dinner with us. Working hard.... Marcus' cousin's little girl, Kambryn, was there, too. Garrett was so glad to have a kid to play with. They had a great time....Garrett was smitten with her. The chef and his sous chef.... Then we had to have some musical entertainment after dinner.

Friday @ Port A

Image
Friday started off a bit rough for us. We took a barefoot stroll in the yard...big mistake. Poor Garrett saw a little pinwheel, and in the process of going to see it, stepped on a palm branch which was loaded with thorns. He immediately started crying, and carried on for longer than normal. Annette put him in the bathtub, and Mom & I went to the only pharmacy on the island to find the necessities to extract it. The pharmacist recommended a salve, Neosporin, etc. We came home, applied everything, and waited for the salve to work. Even after Tylenol, a nap, and the salve on the wound for 2 hours, there was no progress, and Garrett was not himself. He wouldn't walk on his foot so I decided to take him to the doctor, and luckily we did. After a traumatic office visit, the doctor pulled out a thorn that was nearly 1/2" long. The doctor didn't expect it to be that long, and neither did mom and I. Had we not taken him into the doctor, it would have gotten infected, and ...

Port Aransas

We headed to Port Aransas to spend 6 days with my whole family. First I had work to do in San Antonio, as did Jarrett, so we all were able to stay at the same hotel. As a bonus, we met up with Erin, Jason and Emery for dinner (Atlee was in West Texas visiting Julsey and Who Who). Garrett holding "his baby", Emery. He has such baby fever. Our hotel was next to a construction site, and Garrett had a perfect view. He loved watching the crane, trucks, and workers. On Wednesday morning, VACATION officially began. We stopped to see Zane's Aunt Sarah and eat at "The Palace" in Falls City, then made our way to Port A. Riding the ferry was a thrill for Garrett. I think he learned this trick from Sophie. We unpacked and hit the beach. Papa drove the wagon. We quickly ditched the wagon because our boardwalk had LOTS of steps. The next morning, Nana and Garrett took the dogs out for a swim. This lake is right behind our house. The beach is a 5 minute walk. Then it was o...

Getting back to normal...

Obviously we have been busy. I think this is the longest I have ever gone without blogging. Slowly but surely we are getting back to normal. My parents came up last weekend to help unpacking, set up and take care of Garrett. Zane had to attend our church's men's retreat since he helped to organize it. Luckily my parents were there to help, so I could get some things unpacked. Inbetween little projects, Dad entertained Garrett with a "magic worm". Dad kept it in his pocket so Garrett wanted to carry it in his pocket. Garrett entertained himself by unrolling an entire roll of tulle. I caught Garrett wrapped in the tulle, standing on top of the chair, dancing to Kid Rock playing on the radio. more worm... Garrett unpacking the drawers that I just organized. Daddy's Little Helper....  Every time Zane has a project or needs to fix something, Garrett is right there by his side to assist. It is really cute. Thank goodness Zane is so patient with him especially as they a...
