Gus ~ 15 months

Image
Even though he's nearly 16 months, he had a 15 month check up that I never got to blogging about. It just so happens that I've got some photos of him, too;) Gus is something. He's so sweet, very animated, hilarious with his facial expressions, so clever and smart as he figures things out, and he is incredibly loving and welcoming to everyone. If you add a little bit of defiance, then you have our Gus. He's a big eater. I mean big. He loves fruit, beans, scrambled eggs, meat, yogurt, and sweets. He isn't a huge veggie eater (except for cooked spinach). One of his favorites is corn on the cob.  He is 24 lbs (doc says that is 40th percentile, but website says 60th). His height of 31.75 inches puts him in the 60th percentile, according to doc (website says 80th percentile). We don't get too caught up in percentiles around here for this very reason.  He is wearing 24 month and some 2T clothing. His head is 80th percentile, but the doc commented he seems in...

7 years

This past weekend Zane and I were able to escape 90 miles away to Graham, Texas to celebrate our anniversary. Many, many thank yous to Annette and Marcus for keeping the kids. It's pretty nice when I'm talking to my sisters (I'm blessed that both of them do this, as does my Mom) and they say "hey, I'm keeping your kids next weekend". It makes getting away much easier. I was trying to gently "break the news" to Garrett that Mommy and Daddy were going away for a few days. I didn't want him to get upset that we were ditching him, or that he wouldn't see us for a few days. He said "how many days are you going?" I said "just 2. you get 2 whole nights with Nette and Bit Bit". (with his grumpy/mean face) He said "no! I want to stay with Nettie for at least 5 days".  See how difficult it is to leave our children? :) Annette and I met in Irving, where we did the switcheroo of kids and cars. I drove back to Mansfield ...

Last Day of School

The last day of school came with mixed emotions for me. I am definitely ready for a relaxed schedule and less time driving to and from our activities, however I was dreading our last day at Tate Tots. This was Garrett's 3rd year there, and each one has been wonderful. I always pictured Gus going there (someday ~ no time soon:). Due to the distance and the amount of time we spend in the car and money we spend on gas, we opted to enroll Garrett in a school closer to home beginning in the Fall. I feel good about it, but saying good-bye to a place that has worked so well for us, and knowing we won't see his teachers and friends next year is a little painful. However, we are confident that good things are in store for us, and if for some reason, it isn't a fit, we will be back. We were up and dress early, so we could have breakfast at Chik-fil-A for a special, last day of school treat. Mrs. Terry and the kids have always welcomed Gus, so he got to play for just a few mi...
