1 Year Check-up

Image
Garrett had to get his next round of vaccinations on 8/31. He weighed in at 21.2 pounds (25th percentile), was 30.75" long (80th percentile) and his head measured 47 cm (85th percentile). His legs are getting longer and his head is getting bigger. His personalized shirt from the Davidsons. It says "Garrett is one and wonderful". Smiling after the shots (note the bandaids)....he must have forgiven me.

Margaret Townsend & Garrett Townsend

It was so great spending time with my Grandmother. She stayed a whole extra week, just so she could be here for Garrett's 1st Birthday. She and Garrett had a good time together. He gave her lots of kisses, loved playing with the skin on her hands, and was always after her cane. She had never been to Super Target, so we just had to take her. Garrett decided he wanted her to hold him while we were checking out, so she obliged. Monday evening we met up with Annette and Marcus for dinner. Garrett loved pinching her soft skin. We waited for her plane with her at the airport. Garrett loved the wheelchair. He loved riding on the wheelchair, too. See you in a few months, Grandma!

Garrett's 1st time to cruise the aisle at the grocery store. He was so proud of himself.

Presents and My Grandma...

Image
We all made it through the party, but we were exhausted. Garrett stayed with Grandma and Grandpa in their cabin, so Zane & I got to sleep in! Garrett was up bright and early ready to open gifts (he only opened a few at his party). He LOVES the popper. Looking for those presents.... He found them... Cousin Atlee was a big helper to Garrett... By the 3rd gift, he had the 'ripping them open' thing down. What did Tia Erin, Tio Jason & Atlee get you??? A CHAIR! He loves it. Once we were home, I had to take some pictures that I forgot to take at the party. Garrett and his Grandma (however, she may become 'Nana'. The sound that is coming out of Garrett's mouth when we ask him to say 'grandma' greatly resemebles 'Nana'.) We were so excited that my Grandmother extended to trip for Mindy's wedding, so that she could stay for Garrett's party. Her maiden name is "Townsend" and that is where we got Garrett's middle name. 4 Generat...

Garrett's Birthday Weekend

Image
With so many family members making the trip to DFW for Garrett's 1st Birthday, we had all festivities at Joe Pool Lake, about 3 miles from our house. We stayed there and partied there for the weekend. It only took 3 campsites, 2 cabins and a tent to house our crew. On hand for the weekend were both sets of Grandparents from West Texas, Great Grandma Housler from Pennsylvania, Aunt Nettie and Uncle Marcus all the way from Dallas, Aunt Mimi and Uncle Jarrett from College Station, Tia Erin, Tio Jason and cousin Atlee from San Antonio, Tia Amy, Tio Garrett and cousins Gage & Hunter from Poth, plus all of our local friends and family. A Creepy, Crawly Campout was the theme, so we had a bubble camp, a fishin' camp, a craft camp, and a beach camp to keep the kiddos (and adults) busy. Along with potato salad and macaroni & cheese, Zane and Marcus cooked awesome campfire chicken and my mom made her yummy baked beans. We also had star-shaped peanut butter & jelly sandwhiche...
