2009 vs 1978

Tonight I remembered that my parents brought me a few photo albums from when I was a baby. They brought them up when Garrett was born, and at the time, there wasn't much resemblance. Now, things are a little different. But I was just laughing at how much my mom and I think alike. Many of the photos she took were in the same settings that I take pictures of Garrett. Such as... Garrett at 7 months playing with this....I'm not sure what it is called. Me at 9 months playing with a similar toy with my friend, Craig. Garrett (6 months old) in his walker... Me in my walker (9 months old)... Garrett hanging out with his favorite little dog... Me with my Aunt's beloved Chihuahua, Poo-Ying... Garrett snoozing on his Daddy's lap... Me napping on my mom's lap... Garrett enjoying a spatula... Me doing the same...And yes, that is our dear dog, Brit, trying to get a little snack. Sophie tries this with Garrett's food, but she isn't quite as tall as Brit was, which...

Our little geek

Garrett LOVES the keyboard. The minute he is in front of my computer or Zane's computer, he immediately starts smacking the keys. I guess he likes that sound. Well tonight, he got his own. Sick...isn't it? I wonder when he can start learning how to put together presentations for me on Powerpoint? Or use Xactimate for Zane? Does Gymboree teach that?

Funny ABC's

For some reason A-G are very funny. H-X, not so much, so I started back at the beginning.

My Bluebonnet Baby at 7 Months Old

Image
The one and only picture I got of him actually looking at the camera. He was too busy trying to pick the flowers. Picking flowers... All the mamas trying to get pictures... All the kids... A few things Garrett is doing these days as a 7 Month Old: He is a total belly-sleeper (which still scares me). He can sit up very well by himself. He isn't crawling on his knees yet, but tends to go in circles on his belly. He will eat just about anything - loves avacados, mangos, carrots, oatmeal, bananas, and teething cookies. He also likes to suck on clementines through his baby teether-strainer thing. He still sleeps all night - from about 9 pm to 8 am. He loves to swing outside, especially while watching the dogs play. He has 2 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth. He might be cutting a tooth in the back because he is constantly chewing on things....guess we'll see what pops up. He really enjoys bathtime; He splashes and kicks water every where. He has started to be kind of clingy, occassiona...

Tuesday night we were at dinner and Garrett could not keep his eyes of this little girl. This is how he spent most of dinner....until they left. What a flirt!

Granny's Funeral

Today was Granny's funeral. It was a really beautiful service. Zane read the eulogy, and many of her grandkids read scripture during the service. All the great-grandkids placed a flower on her casket during the service, which was very special. Here is her obituary: 1915-2009 Lucy Frances Kowalik, 93, of Hobson, Texas, died Friday, March 20, 2009. She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Hallettsville to John and Frances Mikulenka Bordovsky. Lucy married Edmond “E.V.” Kowalik on Nov. 24, 1932, in Hobson; he preceded her in death on June 10, 1973.She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Kowalik; a son, Tommy Kowalik; her grandson, Stacy Michael Buehring; a son-in-law, George Street; her parents; brothers Rudolph, Ben, George, Jerry, Laddie, and John Bordovsky; and her sisters, Janie Schmidt, Alice Polasek, Mary Jauer, and Evelyn Brandl.Lucy is survived by her daughters, Dolly Street of Kenedy, Sarah Buehring of Hobson, Rosemary Burkett and husband Clyde of Hobson, and Julie Dona...

Exhausted

Garrett was pretty wore out from the weekend. With all the family in town, we got home pretty late each night. On Monday morning, before the funeral, he had a bottle at 7 a.m. then came into our bed. Garrett slept until 10 am.

Toasting Granny

Image
After the rosary, all the family got together to visit and reminisce about Granny.(In the middle of the video, Zane's Dad just realized that the young, handsome fellow singing so loudly and drinking all the wine, was indeed the priest. He's from Poland and relatively new to the area.) Garrett was having fun with Zane's cousin, Ann, and 2 of her girls. Singing songs that reminded everyone of Granny. Zane appealing to his younger audience. First he sang "Old McDonald" and then Hagan requested "Chicken Fry". So much for kid songs. Brent, one of his babies, and a shot of whiskey. Everyone together in Granny's honor... Garrett's Godfather, John, was sweet enough to come all the way to Hobson for Granny's rosary.

Hanging out with his cousins

Since all of Granny's grandkids and great grandkids were in town for her services, seeing lots of family was a bright spot in the weekend. Garrett got the chance to play with his 2nd cousins, Carson & Connor, who were born 3 days after him.
