Being a goober

Image
After we came home from MDO, Garrett was very fussy and tired. He took a nap, and he woke up in a much better mood. Here are some random pictures of Garrett being Garrett. At dinner, the waitress gave him some crayons, and he figured out what to do with them. Then he ate one... Feeding Daddy his dinner... I guess his arms get too tired when holding up his sippy cup, so he has started leaning on the table to drink his milk. After bath time....crazy hair.

1st day of Mother's Day Out

Today Garrett went to MDO for the first time. I realized that the pit in my stomach wasn't because he was turning 1 this week ~ it was because I had to take him to "baby jail". Luckily, 2 of the his Stroller Strides friends are in his class, so there were 2 familiar faces (and 2 additional mommies to check in on him). I tried to get a photo of Garrett before his 1st day, but he crawled off (headed for the mud puddle). One quick photo... Garrett started to fuss when I gave him to the teacher. However, she immediately put him in the "table", which instantly distracted and intrigued him since all his friends were surrounding him. Zane and I picked him up. Before he saw us, we watched him play. Then he saw us and rushed the door... when we got home, we looked over his project in his backpack. His letter from the teacher said he was very happy today, ate all his lunch, took a 12:30 nap, and washed a potato and a carrot. his 1st craft....

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

My sister, Annette (aka Aunt Nettie) is the baker in the family. She took part of the day off from work yesterday to hang out with us Garrett. After a pinic, The Dallas World Aquarium, a cat-nap for Garrett, and dinner at Luna de Noche, we went to her apartment for a birthday ice-cream-cone-cupcake and homemade blueberry/peach ice cream. It was a very yummy! Garrett wasn't sure what to do with it, so first he put his lips on it. He finally picked it up, but kept putting it in the cup holder on the tray?? Having some ice cream.... I love you, Aunt Nettie!

Being 1

To celebrate Garrett's big day, we started off by going to our Stroller Strides class. We had it at Rose Park in Mansfield, and to our surprise, the playground was no longer there. But, they are building a new one so Garrett got to watch dump trucks and backhoes move dirt....what a treat! We didn't want to make a big spectacle or anything out of his birthday, so he just wore a crown:) After class (and a shower for me and a nap for G), we headed to Dallas to meet up with Annette for a picnic. He was loving the carrots and opening his first gift! The gift was from Aunt Nettie....a guitar! Then helping himself to some pasta salad. Then we headed to the Dallas Aquarium... I wasn't sure if I should trust the bird or not... One of our favorite stops was the otters. They were super cute and put on quite a show. It was snack time for them, so they were splashing around and swimming all over the place. Garrett got down low so he could see them through the water. The came up rig...
