Strider Rider

Image
My good friend, Jill, organized a bulk buy of Strider Bikes at a great cost. These are starter bikes that teach toddlers to ride bikes, focusing more on balance without the confusion of peddles. She placed an order for 27 of these, so just about everyone I know with a child around Garrett's age now has one. This is exciting because it means lots of bike-riding play dates this summer. Even though we didn't pick up the bike until 7:45 p.m. last night, we had to let Garrett try to ride it after Zane put it together. We were excited to see what he thought of it. G was excited and kept saying "bike, bike".  Once he was on it, he just sat on it. Then it fell over, and kind of took him with it. After that he wouldn't get back on it. We would tell him to get on his bike, and he would say very  affirmatively "NO!".  Tonight he did much better and was much more confident on the bike. Zane lowered the seat even more, so it fits him better. Tomorrow we are...

Willie

Last Saturday we headed down to College Station for the night. Mindy & Jarrett  invited us to go with them to a Ducks Unlimited Festival where Willie Nelson was playing along with various other bands. There was water dog competition, wood carving competition, and plenty of things for kids to do. Because there were dog competitions going on, there were tons of dogs there, so Garrett were really happy just to watch all of the dogs. All ready for Willie! Garrett and his new buddy, Gus, the Standard Poodle. Giving the dogs a thumbs up for their jump. Garrett & Mindy decided they needed a closer view of the dogs jumping. At first, G was a little unsure of being so close, but he warmed up to the idea in no time. Then we took Mindy to the kids area. Garrett had fun, too. Doug Moreland was there to perform his music and wordcarving. Garrett gave his knuckles. Listening to Doug Moreland. Being a goofball. Bubbles! Julee Mimi and JJ - Garrett was in heave...

Street Sweeper

My little sweeper is at it again. A few weeks ago my sister, Mindy, brought him this broom. She knows how much he likes to sweep/mop, etc with full-sized mops and brooms. She found this one at Wal-mart and got it for him. It is just his size, and plays music and makes little sounds. Garrett loves it. I have caught him intentionaly spilling things just so he can sweep them up. For instance, he has been taking our automatic pepper mills and grinding pepper on the kitchen floor. He then goes and gets his broom and sweeps it into a pile.He also tried to intentionally spills some orzo pasta just so he could sweep it into a pile. From there, it just sits in the pile. He has not yet mastered the dustpan and putting it into the trashcan.
