"Anoder dead path"

Image
Tuesday night was a perfect autumn night. We had pumpkin chili for dinner (thank you, Pinterest...It was delicious), bundled up the boys and went back to Grapevine to do the Corn Maze at the Hall Pumpkin Patch. We were hoping to do a hayride, too, but they only offer them during the weekend. The weather was so nice ~ just cool enough for a jacket.  I told Garrett scary stories, tried to hide in corn stalks to sneak up on him, and he didn't once get spooked. He's no fun:)  Gus loved the wagon.  Garrett had his own flashlight to guide us. He had to make each decision as to which way we turned. Our first wrong turn I said "oops...it's a dead end". From then on, if we came to a dead end he said "oops...anoder dead path".  We were in the corn maze for an hour, so Garrett had to hitch a ride for his tired legs.  Garrett and Zane discussing which way to go.  We finally made it out (without calling 911!).  Gus's 1st slide

Country Critters

I'm catching up on what we've been up to....We enjoyed the chilly Fall day with Kay & Jackson at Country Critter Farms last week. I could hardly keep up with Garrett. He saw the dirt and animals and was running from pen to pen. It was windy, and Gus would not keep his shoes or socks on... Garrett bumping heads with the goats. I asked him not to do this about 50 times. Then I gave up and took a picture. My little piggies in front of a big piggy. Garrett was quite concerned this chicken was going to peck him through the fence. It was probably a fair concern. He wouldn't take his eyes off of him. Garrett being a "chicken". ha! More pumpkins! Jackson hauling some pumpkins... Garrett "wopin' dat bull" a "sitty-sat"

Fire Station #9

Image
October is Fire Prevention month, which makes for a great excuse to visit a fire station. Our neighbor, Mr. Mike (as Garrett calls him) is a captain at Station #9, so he arranged for our playgroup to take a tour. These are the same firemen that came to our Cookies for Kids Cancer event in May. They were super nice. The new ladder truck The station is brand new, so they have a huge, beautiful kitchen. This is the table that all the firemen helped to build. The feet of the table are made from ladders.(Garrett, who is a little obsessed with Zane's ladders, thought this was very cool). L to R: Garrett, Heston, Claire, Isabella, and Gracie. G inside the laddertruck  Garrett was being a bit of a toot. Being rough with his friends and very bossy with them. This picture says it all....  The boys and me (with my cousin it hair do). The kids got to spray a hose, but Gus was fine to watch the water on the driveway.

Hall Pumpkin Patch

And our pumpkin patch marathon continues. Sunday we visited the pumpkin patch on Hall Johnson Road in Grapevine. We went with the Andersons, and we had a great afternoon. Garrett and Madison are two peas in a pod. It was a warmer day than we had anticipated. I have no excuse for that outfit other than that I didn't feel like arguing with him on what to wear. This old pickup was their favorite.
