Baby Food

Image
One of our playgroup activities was making baby food. I was skeptical, but it was actually very easy and very cheap (especially when several people each bring a large quantity of one fruit or veggie). We pureed them, poured into ice cube trays, and froze them. The ice cube trays are perfect 1 oz servings, so whenever I need a serving, I can just throw it in the microwave. We pureed steamed carrots, canned organic grean beans, steamed sweet potatoes, baked butternut squash, bananas and.....Rancho del Cielo peaches. In August Ralph & Julie (Zane's parents) brought us a bunch of peaches fresh from the ranch. I blanched, pealed, and froze them to use at a later date. We use them in cobbler and in homemade ice cream. I contributed a bag to the baby food cause, and it tastes really good. Garrett will get to try them in a few weeks when we try some foods other than cereal.

From Garrett

To Grandma & Grandpa: Much has happened this week, and since we don't get to talk to you, I wanted to give you an update. This week has been kind of a rough week, but today it is much better. -I didn't poop at all on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. I finally pooped (a lot) today, and I am in a much better mood. -Because of my situation, I got to try apple juice and water (which I really liked), and I got to eat some peas. Jury is still out on those peas. -To add to my issues, another tooth has surfaced. On the bottom, right next to the other one. -Mom has warned me, that if I do not stop biting her, I will soon be a formula-fed baby. -The weather has been so nice (in the 70s & 80s each day), that I've been able to jump in my jumper outside almost every day. Tomorrow will be colder, the high is only 40 degrees. -Tomorrow we are going to the Ft. Worth Stockshow, and I'm very excited to see all the animals. Mom will post pictures of my first visit to the stockshow....

Life is tough

Garrett used to lay on his mat and play for 30 minutes. Now that he is rolling over so well from back to belly, he easily gets frustrated because he hates being on his belly. He has rolled over belly to back a few times, but not recently. This is how play time goes these days...

Big night for Garrett

Image
Last night Garrett slept in his crib in his room for the first time. Until now, he was still sleeping in his cradle in our room. Since he's slept through the entire night since he was FIVE days old, we were afraid to change up the night routine for fear he stopped sleeping through the night. So we put him to bed at 8 p.m., and like normal he woke up at 9:30 p.m. to eat. Then he went right back to his crib and slept until 8 a.m. I woke up several times to stare at the monitor looking for movement... He was sleeping so peacefully, but had managed to escape his swaddle... This is how I found him at 8 a.m. I wish I was this happy when I woke up...

Go Steelers

Luckily, my Aunt Kim gave Garrett some Pittsburgh Steelers gear when we were visiting family in Pennsylvania. Looks like he'll get to wear it again for the Super Bowl! Just like a man....can't take his eyes off the game.
