The last 12 months have flown by, but I can't imagine what life was like without Gus. He is such a great baby, and I thought another easy, laid back, good-sleeping, smart baby boy was very unlikely. He is silly, clever, social, and loves his brother (when Garrett is at school he crawls in G's bedroom looking for him), loves the dogs, and can't wait to talk. He is a big eater, slightly more picky than Garrett. His favorites are bananas, cheese, Happy Baby food pouches, grapes, scrambled eggs, meat, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookies and mum mums. The minute he sees food (or someone eating it) he starts squealing. If he eats all his food and wants more he starts squealing (meal time is stressful with him). He loves farm animals and musical instruments. When the bell choir plays at church he watches them intently, while moving his arms as if he is playing the bells, too. He loves to play with Garrett, but is completely content playing alone in the playroom. He is a fast crawler, is stand up assisted, and took 2 steps on 2/19/12. Since then, he hasn't been interested in taking any more steps. But crawling is another story...crawling on the train table, up any stairs he can find, and on the fireplace.
He still sleeps through the night, and is wanting to go to bed as early as 7 pm (but I try to keep him up a little longer). He sleeps 12 hours at night, takes a morning nap and an afternoon nap (around 60-90 minutes each).
He is a big boy, wearing 18-24 month clothing. He weighs 23 pounds 7 ounces (60th percentile) and is 30.5 inches long (80th percentile). His hair is fine, light brown/blonde, and he has a lot of it. His eyes are still blue, but I think they will change to green. He has 6 teeth, and 2 more are arriving on the bottom (no new teeth since August).
He is exceeding our expectations in the signing area. He is catching on really quickly. He signs milk, more, star, cow, horse, and his favorite sign is.....DEER! He loves to see the elk in Garrett's room, and had fun spotting all the deer heads at my aunt and uncle's house. He makes the sign while saying "Da". He also can gobble and quack on demand. He says "mo" when he wants more and says "deg" when he sees Sophie. One of my favorite things that he does is putting his hands together when we say grace at dinner. He starts making the sign for "amen" and saying "ah ah" about half way into the prayer. And if we forget to pray, he starts doing this, as if he is reminding us to pray!

We love you, Gus Gus and give thanks for you every day!
